OCTOPUS – PLAYGROUNDS
History
The company was founded in 1978 with the name "Macedonian Sport" and whose main activity was the construction of playground equipment.
The main goal of its founder, Kounatidi Pythagoras, was to build functional and durable playgrounds, which will offer to children, fun and physical activity.
Working with love for his job, the company expanded rapidly and became known throughout Northern Greece. More and more municipalities have started to trust the 'Macedonian Sports'' and in a short time the company surpassed locality, which was the main characteristic of manufacturers at the time.
After 2004, which was renamed »Octopus Playgrounds». New ideas were applied in both production and administration. The plant was upgraded and enriched with new materials and technical equipment. So, news , largest and most complex instruments (composite) began to be produced.
Compliance with the new European safety standards were of particular importance, so each product passed checks and was certified by Greek and European agencies. Production adapted quickly to new circumstances, and since then all products are manufactured in accordance with safety standards EN 1176:2008 / 1-6.
The company also patented Quality Management System ISO 9001:2008 and ISO Environmental Management 14001:2004.
Who we are
Octopus , specializes in producing playground equipment and park equipment from 1978 with competitive prices that meet international standards and customer requirements. The vision is to create a safe environment where the playground will offer the children fun and excitement while practicing physically and mentally.
Octopus is a healthy company, which travels an upward trend ,without debts into public funds or private suppliers. Solvency of the company can be guaranteed by both banks and public sector entities.
Certifications
The products of Octopus have all the relevant certifications such as ISO 9001-2008, ISO 14001 :2004, EN1176, 1-7, ISO 1801 by accredited certification bodies like EVETAM (former ELOT) και TUV SUD.
The company is based in Lagadas Thessaloniki in a privately owned building and has a second manufacturing plant and showroom in Kresna Bulgaria.
Customers
The Company's customers are mainly municipalities, Contractors for Public Works, Hotels, restaurants, Campsites, Malls and gaming merchants. The sales network of Octopus is reinforced by it's partners both in Greece with representatives in Crete, Corfu, Ioannina,Cyclades and abroad with representatives in Cyprus ,Italy, Bulgaria, Romania etc.. Our export network reaches the Middle East with exports to Kuwait, Pakistan and UAE.
Purpose
The purpose of the Company is to promote its products in all the countries of South East. Europe and the Middle East , to continue its collaboration with Public Institutions, local import companies, public works contractors and grow its sales network. The company already has a strong presence in expos for 2013 ,to promote its products and expanding partnerships.
Donations
The founder of Octopus ,Kounatidis Pythagoras, being a child who lived in an orphanage, have a great sensitivity to child protection issues.
His own priority and the company's is to provide orphans and neglected children with fun and safety.
As a result of this practice ,the company completely cover the need for playgrounds in orphanages and child welfare institutions, such as' 'The Smile of the Child', the Archdiocese of Central Africa, the institution PEDOPOLIS in Athens, the orphanage of St.Antreas, the orphanage of Volos ,Orphanage in Stara Zagora in Bulgaria, etc..
